Real Reconize Real
what's better than rapality TV? why, mock rapality TV of course. these guys over at The Real are killing me with every post they put up. Their analysis of some of Biggie's lyrics and how they have affected the UPS work force, and their dramatization of how rap is ruining our society are kinda they best things i've ever seen in my life. go check it and thank me later...

Curtis Vodka vs. Clipse
This edit of Mr. Me Too is so fucking hot i'm sweating. (seriously, i'm sweating all over this keyboard - that's either really wierd and pathetic or the song is that good). Curtis Vodka's just crazy... but you already knew that.
and here's the original version in youtube video formation for your listening pleasure...

Rapality Television
I'm addicted to it. you got Internet Celebrities, Jay Smooth's commentaries for XXL, XLR8R TV dropping some shit, you got Star Track/illusivemedia posting gems like this, NORE's Noreality show (kinda really boring - I don't know why I watch it), and of course there's everyone's fav's OnSmash and QD3.
I'm a leave you now with Fam-Lay's Da Beeper Record video (i know, its been out for a few weeks now, shit is fire).

Can't Be Silenced
Looks like more people are coming outta the wood-works and taking shots at Jay-Z. First it was Calvin Klein, now its De-Haven. Apparently Jay's been quick to turn his back on people he grew-up with as soon as he started making rap money.
check out De-Haven's videos...

Tittsworth vs. M.O.P.
i know this tracks been out for a minute, but i'm gonna post it anyway because it's that good. Tittsworth's remix of M.O.P.'s hood anthem Ante Up. i don't know why so many producers sleep on M.O.P., 'cause their shits got so many good vocal samples to chop up (ie- like in that Tittsworth remix).

why we love Cam (no homo)
like you couldn't already tell...
Cam has to be, hands down, the most ridiculous rapper alive. dudes got so much swagger that he can do whatever he wants make it work for him. he was the first to rock those NBA logo jackets, square diamond door-knocker earrings, putting pink on everything, then putting purple on everything. and we all fallowed suit. oh, and the whole "no homo" phenomenon. then he goes ahead and does the most retarded things, and it doesn't faze his career or how we view him (ok, all that pink was kinda ridiculous too). but i'm talking about shit like his movie Killa Season, how he markets his Sizzurp (wft?! he really called it Sizzurp), his ignorant (not ign'ant) interviews, his 50 diss video, his other 50 diss video, how he freaks out with his high pitched voice. and how can we forget how he sends out video-tape threats of him in his boxers, and fallows it up with a stare down... but we find it all funny, even if that may not have been his intention.
basically, he can do no wrong. and that's why you're gonna listen to his new track My Jealousy (Feat. Slim Thug & Papoose). Breez kinda flipped the sample Juelz used for My Problem, but its still good.
oh, and watch this too...

who the fuck is Jers?!?!?
ok, who the hell is Jers? dude doesn't even have anything up anywhere online about him (hence no pics on this post). he's got two tracks on the newest dipset mixtape and i can't get enough of his southern drawl and lazy flow. anyway, check out Err Body Knows Me and My Tool off of the Dipset All Day mixtape (yeah i ripped the tracks off the mixtape. so what?!?!).
In other news, Cassidy speaks on Lil Wayne, T.I. on his diss record laced with a few compliments (yep, another mixape rip)... and while we're at it, here's an old Cassidy mixtape track over Canibus' Get Retarded beat.
this was supposed to be a post about Jers, but I guess its kinda more about mixtape rips, isn't it?

the burden of creativity
Jay Electronica (i know, his name's kinda lame), new comer from New Orleans, must feel pretty good right now. Erykah Badu heard his shit and liked it so much, she started her Control FreaQ Records just to put him on.
Bitches & Drugs, a tight little joint laced by Dilla first got my attention 'cause this guy doesn't sound like he's from the south. i thought he was from the mid-west or NYC when i heard him 'cause he actually has a bit of substance. But Jay's true creativity comes out on Act 1: Eternal Sunshine (the pledge). dude flips samples from Jon Brion's score to the movie, audio clips from the movie, interviews with Erykah and Just Blaze, and some samples from the original Willy Wondka movie. Act 1 is supposedly the first of 3 installments - the last of which is gonna be his debut album.
i have a feeling though, that as much as i like him and as talented as he is, dude's not gonna blow. pause. he definitely deserves too, but with the fucked up state of hip hop right now, i just don't see it happening. everyone's been saying "we need hip hop thats creative and challenging like this to change this," but i just don't see it happening. the only changes i can see in the near future is an increase in violent lyrics in a spiteful response to Oprah and her campaign to clean-up hip hop, an increase in lyrical abilities with the rise of Lil Wayne, and other mix tape stars like Serius Jones and Joell Ortiz, and maybe a bit of a return to the heavier, more raw production style of the early/mid 90's when everyone gets diabetic-type-sick of these candy-coated tracks. But really, i just don't see some one like Jay Electronica catching on with the general public. I think he's just a bit too creative to come out now in a time when producer's are hailed as geniuses for switching the snare drum with a clap sample, and then again with a snap sample. He'll definitely get a bit of underground buzz from back packers, college radio and the white kids who listen to Ninja Tune, but I think he's just too much in the other direction to really really catch on - at least right now. But hey, go out, support him and prove me wrong...
(or maybe i'm just too jaded).
anyway, here's some more Jay Electronica for your enjoyment...

those akward teenage years
I just got some new shit by The Teenagers. they recently remixed GoodBooks' "the illness". and i just got vodka, but i'm not too sure how old it is. i think it may have been a demo track, but it sounds pretty new. tiger definitely sounds like a demo, especially when you compair it to their other really old material. but hey, i'm ususally wrong about these sorts of things...
going through the old Dilla tapes...
FINALLY someone used one of my favorite Dilla beats ever. Guilty Simpson used the James Brown Man's World beat. I've been sitting on a few Dilla demo/beat CD's for a while now, and now my favorite instrumental has finally come out with someone spitting over top of it. now i've got just one more from these 3 demos i have that i'm just impatiently waiting to be officially released with one of his mc's over top of it. you know, just to fill it out....
oh, and the Real Freqs just posted the audio clip of SV's first ever Toronto appearance. One of the best shows I've ever been to.
now, if only madlib would officially release that Jaylib bootleg...

I sampled your life, you was using it wrong
Calvin Klein, a former Brooklyn drug dealer who Jay-Z mentions in his song “Allure”, recently appeared on DJ Kay Slay’s show on Shade 45 claiming he launched Jay’s career and that Jay’s drug dealing past holds no weight.
“In the 80’s, Jay wasn’t trying to be a drug dealer he was tryna be a rapper but in order for him to transcend himself into this hell of a dude, he had to take characters from the 80’s like myself , said Klein. “ I give him 10% of his life that he talked about; I gotta give him something, [laughs]. He is from Brooklyn, he lived in Marcy Projects, his name is Sean Carter, he got that right."
this shit's kinda funny. read more at six shot...
also, Jay takes some subtle jabs at Lil Weezy on this new T.I. joint...

They All Get Money???
seriously, seems like everyone's taking Curtis' I Get Money and just running with it. After his last two singles flopped and forced him to push back his album's release date, maybe this bit of extra exposure will help him a bit... but maybe not...
he's got mixtape king Joell Ortiz killing him on his own shit. Milk D coming out of retirement to show him how to do it proper. Hell Rell drops his version. Kanye proves even a back packer can hold down that beat. Jimmie Hoffa jumps on there. Tupac's ghost even kills him. And probably my favorite version, Cassidy's freestyle. Who's next? Foxy Brown?!?! oh wait, she was just robbed last month, so she's got no money.
and here's 50's version...
who knows, maybe he'll find a way to use the 12539470 versions of his track to market the new album...

Bulletproof Goose Pillows
normally i'm not one to plug movies. fuck, i rarely know whats playing most of the time. and on the real, rappers tend to make the worst actors. further, super hero movies, even when done really well, still kinda come off as a bit cheesy to me (spider man was good, but you know what i'm saying).
but c'mon... Ghost?!?! Ironman?!?! this is crazy!! URB's giving out the details about this one...
dude even flipped sunshine anderson and made it hot. so you know no matter how lame rap actors and super hero movies can be, this is gonna be good.
oh, and this shit's kinda funny too...
its me, bitches
